Same Boat, Different Oars: A Story Slam

The Equity Project Alliance in partnership with the Satori Foundation presents “Same Boat, Different Oars” a story slam.

“Same Boat, Different Oars” explores the different challenges, resources and perspectives that shape how each of us moves through the world. Even when we are working toward the same goal, opportunities differ or obstacles may get in the way. Sometimes you’ve had to find your own way forward, change direction, or learn to move alongside someone whose rhythm was different from yours. “Same Boat, Different Oars” recognizes that we may share a community but don’t always have the same resources or paths forward.

Have you ever faced the same situation as someone else but experienced it completely differently? You both had oars in the water but landed in different places. Have you ever had an experience that showed how support, access, or opportunity can change a person’s journey?

The Equity Project Alliance is seeking storytellers to share true, personal stories inspired by the theme Same Boat, Different Oars. Stories may be heartfelt, humorous, difficult, surprising, or hopeful—but they should be authentically yours. Your personal story can help others see life from a different point of view.
